360 PERFORMANCE ACADEMY WELCOMES YOUNG GOLFING TALENT RUBEN DUNDAS TO THE TEAM.

Ruben won his first competition in October 2023 – the Handicap North of Scotland Junior Open Matchplay Champion 2023 which was a 4 day competition at Forres Golf Club.  I had my first meeting with Ruben and his amazing mum Ami, in late July 2023 at the Nairn Golf Club over a coffee and a can of Fanta and I am really pleased to say he took it all on board and his mindset game has been top notch.

Ruben began golfing age 7 whilst on holiday in Spain. His first lesson was at La Manga Club, where we were staying. Ruben had a natural ability for golf and was keen to continue when we returned to the UK.

He soon got a membership at Nairn Golf Club and Ruben took weekly one on one lessons with Murray (pro) for nearly 2 years.

His game advanced rapidly and it was clear to see he had developed a real love and passion for the game.

He was selected for the North District Squad training age 10 at Nairn and this allowed him to play with older more advanced golfers and in turn helped his development.

He participated in the Wee Wonders competition coming Top Two in Nairn & Carnoustie. The competition drew in junior golfers from England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland and over 400 participated in qualifying rounds. The top 20 from UK played in the final in Gullane. Ruben came 11th in completion and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

He won his first competition in October. Handicap North of Scotland Junior Open Matchplay Champion 2023 which was a 4 day competition at Forres Golf Club.

Ruben’s main coach is Murray Urquhart at Nairn, he also travels once a month to work with Spencer Henderson at Paul Lawrie. In 2024 he will start weekly PT sessions in Forres – he’s also a keen footballer, plays for the Forres Mechanics under 12 squad.

Ruben also participates yearly in some Junior Tour events throughout Scotland. These have given him a great head start in the competitive field.
