The Claymore was in Bulgaria this weekend, securing 2 x last 16s.

An interesting weekend in Bucharest for the Romanian Darts Festival, saw David make it to the last 16 both days having put in some excellent performances, just unfortunate to not get any further.

From The Claymore…

“My first match on Saturday was a real toughy, having drawn 2020 World Youth Finalist Joe Davis of England. A great performance saw a comfortable 4-1 win with an average of 102.54 and a place in last 128. Then wins in the last 128, L64 and L32 put me up against a very solid player in Thomas Allies of Yorkshire in the last 16. I started well, winning the 1st leg, but it was Thomas who came out on top 4-1 after I missed an opportunity to go 2 nil up and then missed a shot to make it 3-2 and get back into the game. Wasn’t to be.

Onto Sunday and again, some great performances saw wins against Josh Collett of England and for the 2nd day in a row had solid wins over both Mladen Radosavljevic and Joe Davis before coming up against Mike Gillet in the last 16.

Mike got off to a flier winning the opening 2 legs in 12 and 13 darts before I pegged him back winning legs 3 and 4. So, 2 legs each and all to play for.

I then missed a dart at Double 20 and one double 10 to go 3-2 up.

Then in leg 6, I had 1 dart at double 8 to make it 3 all, before Mike checked 43 in 2 darts to seal the win.

Not quite the results I was looking for but the level of performance was pleasing.

Looking forward to the year ahead and feel my game is in a good place right now.

As always massive thanks to my Sponsors…
